Haute Rive Sur Dordogne is a 17th Century historic property that served as a toll-post for the ferry crossing the Dordogne until the Siorac bridge was built.
Beautifully restored in 2002, Haute-Rive is perched over the Dordogne River with 750' of waterfront. A nice little beach allows for swimming, canoeing and fishing. (License for fishing can be obtained at the village "Bar-tabac"). The 5 acres grounds include a large heated infinity pool with fantastic views and sunsets, a walnut grove, and beautiful gardens.
Master Suite - On the upper floor,you will find a luxurious master suite which includes a large bedroom, a jacuzzi and multiple jet showers. The master suite has a great view over the Dordogne as well as on the yard, BBQ and the barn.
The upper floor - Beside the master suite, separated from the rest of the upper floor, there are two bedrooms, one with a single bed, with a trundle bed , that faces the yard, and the other, with a queen-size bed with two windows facing north, to the Dordogne. These 2 rooms share a bathroom. The upper floor also boasts a library with a stock of books and a comfortable sofa facing the south.
The ground floor - On the ground floor there is a large bedroom with a queen-size bed, an attached bathroom, and a large window opening to the yard.
The kitchen - equipped with top of the line appliances, large work area and 2 walk-in closets, all meant to make your stay in the kitchen a delightful experience. The breakfast area is a delight in itself, being full of light, with a great view to the north and the east of the property.
The living room - with its thick walls, its large windows with a view over the Dordogne, and its huge original 17th century fireplace, is furnished in very good taste, beside being large and comfortable. A powder-room with separate WC and large family room with its entertainment center complete the ground floor description.
Basement - Connected to the corridor by a door, the basement has washing machine and dryer, as well as an iron and ironing board, all the essentials to pack light for a long stay.
Front yard and BBQ - The front yard is spacious enough to have a few cars parked. The 19th century barn is locked, as it is used for storage of gardening tools and materials. Beside the barn, on an elevated stone paved platform, the BBQ waits for your talents. One eye on the BBQ, the other looking at the Dordogne, the local food products will soon turn into a wonderful feast. The sounds of nature, birdsong, little breeze from the Dordogne, flowers all around, good wine, great food products... who could ask for more?
The pool and walnut grove - An infinity pool with a wonderful view over the Dordogne. The irregular-shaped swimming pool, approximately 14m x 9m (46' x 30'), is in a beautiful setting about 25-30 meters from the house. It is surrounded with an infra-red alarm system in accordance with european and french strict security regulations. Don't forget to ask for the keys and user manual as soon as you check-in. The pool has a terrace on one side and is surrounded by gardens. A ping-pong table and board games are available. The pool is heated only between June 15 and September 15 of any given year, if you rent before or after this dates, and you want the pool heated, you must contact us and ask for it, and we will work out the conditions with you. The pool is taken care of all year round, with state of the art system for best comfort in the water. The pool is kept clean and tidy by our grounds keeper.
The Brook and the River - On the eastern side of the property a little brook marks the border between the jurisdictions of Siorac and Marnac. Along this brook you can walk down to the bank of the Dordogne. A great place to finish your day with a glass of wine, sitting on a rock or a tree stump, feet in the cool water. You can also borrow the two canoes (with a signed waiver) and go up or down the river and back. But just enjoying the most beautiful sunsets with a glass of cool Monbazillac is an experience you will not easily forget.
